Lexus - Freedom to Move | Virtual Interiors

DEC|2020 - A Digital Fashion & Design Collaboration

Lexus presents a dual digital design collaboration exploring the future of movement, identity, and interior experience through fashion, architecture, and automotive innovation.

Freedom to Move

Created in collaboration with architect and designer Tosin Oshinowo and textiles designer Chrissa Amuah, Freedom to Move is a conceptual headpiece series presented in partnership with Design Miami/.

The project reimagines the idea of protection and adornment through sculptural headpieces that sit between functionality and ornamentation. Inspired by the global shift in how we move through the world, the designs respond to the widespread use of face coverings while elevating them into objects of cultural expression, craftsmanship, and identity.

Drawing on Japanese design principles of omotenashi (hospitality) and takumi (craftsmanship), the headpieces combine global cultural references with contemporary material innovation. Developed collaboratively in Lagos, Nigeria and London, the work reflects a dialogue between African identity, global design languages, and future-facing aesthetics.

For the digital editorial, Shudu models one of the headpieces in a series of clean, futuristic compositions, translating the physical designs into a virtual environment where form, light, and texture are amplified through CGI.

The result is a visual exploration of protection as celebration, where the head becomes a canvas for innovation, heritage, and speculative design.

MAY|2021 - Virtual Interiors (LF-Z Electrified Concept)
Virtual Interiors, reinterprets the interior world of the Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept Car through digital fashion and CGI environments.
In collaboration with HYPEBEAST Media, three designers were invited to reimagine the materiality and emotional experience of the future car interior across fashion, art, and craftsmanship.

One of the contributors, Ondrej Zunka, creates futuristic material systems that sit between digital art and industrial design. His vision introduces intelligent surfaces, immersive lighting systems, and tactile digital materials designed to respond to human presence.

Within this environment, Shudu becomes a presence inside the vehicle, bridging human form and machine intelligence. The interior is reimagined as a sensory space where materials communicate through light, vibration, and atmosphere, rather than static function.

The project expands the idea of automotive design into a fully immersive digital experience, where interiors become emotional, responsive, and alive.

Together, both chapters of this Lexus collaboration reflect a shared vision: a future where movement is not only physical, but cultural, sensory, and digital, shaped equally by design, technology, and imagination.
