Expanded World | Hosted by Espacio Fundación Telefónica

NOV|2023 - Between the Physical and the Virtual

The Diigitals was featured in Expanded World: Between the Physical and the Virtual, a major exhibition at Espacio Fundación Telefónica in Madrid exploring how digital technologies are reshaping the way we live, work, create, and connect.

Bringing together artists, technologists, researchers, and pioneers working at the intersection of physical and virtual reality, the exhibition examined the growing influence of simulated worlds and digital environments on modern society. Through a collection of installations, artworks, and interactive experiences, visitors were invited to consider the social, cultural, and ethical implications of an increasingly hybrid future.

As part of the exhibition, The Diigitals showcased its work in virtual humans, digital identity, and synthetic media, contributing to a wider conversation about how technology is transforming representation and human connection. Through projects featuring digital models and virtual personalities, the studio's work explored the evolving relationship between identity, creativity, and technology in an age where the boundaries between physical and digital experiences continue to blur.

Spanning more than eighty works and experiences, Expanded World traced humanity's long fascination with creating alternative realities, from early immersive visual technologies to contemporary virtual worlds, artificial intelligence, and digital avatars. The exhibition highlighted both the opportunities and challenges presented by these emerging technologies, encouraging visitors to reflect on the future of digital citizenship and the role virtual spaces will play in our everyday lives.

The inclusion of The Diigitals within the exhibition reflected the growing cultural significance of digital humans and virtual identities, positioning the studio's work within a broader international dialogue about the future of technology, creativity, and human expression.
