JAN|2024 - Exploring the Future of AI, Identity and Creativity
For its 2024 cover, The Great British Brands partnered with The Diigitals to create a visual exploration of one of the most important questions facing the creative industries today: what happens when artificial intelligence becomes indistinguishable from reality?
The cover featured Shudu, the world's first digital supermodel, alongside a pioneering AI-generated counterpart of model Alexsandrah Gondora. Together, they represented two sides of an evolving creative landscape, one entirely virtual and one rooted in a real human collaborator whose likeness helped shape the final work.
The project was designed not only as a striking piece of visual storytelling but as a conversation about transparency, ethics, and the future of artificial intelligence. At a time when generative AI was rapidly entering mainstream culture, the cover challenged audiences to question what they were seeing and consider how digital imagery is created.

Central to the project was the belief that AI should be used as a creative tool that works alongside people rather than replacing them. By involving real collaborators throughout the production process and creating a digital counterpart of Alexsandrah with her participation, the project demonstrated how human creativity and emerging technologies can coexist in meaningful and ethical ways.
The cover generated significant discussion around the opportunities and challenges presented by AI-generated content and became the subject of wider media coverage, including a documentary by The Guardian. Featuring insights from Cameron-James Wilson and Alexsandrah Gondora, the documentary explored public reactions to the imagery and examined how audiences respond when the boundaries between real and artificial become increasingly difficult to distinguish.
More than a magazine cover, Are We Human? became a platform for discussing the future of creativity, identity, and digital representation. The project reflects The Diigitals' ongoing commitment to exploring emerging technologies while encouraging greater public understanding of the tools that are shaping the next generation of visual culture.
